WLC 400: WLC MAJOR CAPSTONE
Course Description:
Students work with the instructor and WLC faculty advisors to research, synthesize, write and present their Capstone projects. Students will also assemble a Graduation Portfolio reflecting how each MLO was met. This course is required for all Japanese, Spanish and World Languages and Cultures majors. (Offered spring semester.) (Credit/ No Credit Available)
Reflective Narrative:
This course was really more of a bonus to my previous JAPN 403 and 404 classes. Here we went over more of how to overall do the research for a capstone project. We learned how to fully utilize the library, library website, and all of the different research databases that is links to. We also focused on what we should do to write this very e-portfolio. I found that this class was good at unifying our department, so beyond actually teaching us how to do the research it gave us access to other people who could aid us in any troubles we came across in the researching process. This was the first real research project I have done where I have to provide my own findings on something. The things that we went over in class helped greatly with going over this so the feat would become doable.
Through this course I was able to gain the resources I needed to complete the capstone project correctly and well. It provided me with much needed aid from the faculty, and also support from my fellow classmates. My research was made possible in large by having been taking this course, and I'm glad that it was available and I wasn't just left on my own for this.
